Location: Clewiston, FL
Size: Varies
Cost: $340,000,000

The project is the modernization and expansion of a raw sugar processing mill first constructed in 1927.  Various additions include a new railcar unloading station, a cane grinding facility, evaporator block, continuous batch pan stations, chemical storage facilities, new warehousing, maintenance workshops, the renovation of a sugar boiling house and associated appurtenances.  The structural systems in the overall project utilized conventional structural steel, composite structural steel and conventionally reinforced elevated concrete framing, mass concrete equipment supports, concrete mat foundations, auger cast concrete pile foundations, and spread footings.

The application of Building Information Modeling by KSi was complimented by other disciplines including process equipment, process piping, and electrical wiring included project documentation developed in Bentley Autoplant.  Equipment, piping and mechanical files were references into KSi's structural model for coordination purposes.  The use of BIM in this heavy industrial application allowed the team to located vertical bracing and equipment supports free of interferences with process components.  Navisworks Jetstream was utilized for complete model walk-thrus and clearance checks.
