History

KSi/Structural Engineers was formed when principals John Hann and Chris Reddick joined Kurt Swensson in August of 1999 to bring together a group of talented engineers dedicated to making their clients successful by adding value to each project and project team. John and Kurt worked together to build the Atlanta office while Chris built the Nashville office. The firm grew quickly with help from loyal clients and friends based on each professional’s track record of creativity, service, experience, and technical ability. Early in 2000 KSi landed several major contracts in the corporate, medical and biotechnology research laboratory markets that solidified our growth for years to come.

Infrastructure

After our first year, both offices expanded and changed location to allow for continued growth. The company’s infrastructure with office interconnectivity, and supporting integrated software was brought on-line to jump start productivity and service to our clients. Design, drafting, communications, and administrative software and hardware are continually upgraded to support our growing firm and take advantage of improvements in technology.

Staff

Each design professional has added to the growth of KSi in his or her own way. Many of our senior level staff have formed and solidified their client relationships to allow for further growth into new markets and firms. Under the supervision of our project managers, younger design professionals have risen to the challenge and efficiently produced quality designs and construction documents. The administrative staff has supported the efforts of the firm through efficient management of documents, communication, accounting and other administrative responsibilities.

Milestones

The following are some milestones which mark our growth in our first 9 years:

• The firm grew from 2 employees in the summer of 1999 to more than 40 in our first 7 years.
• The firm now includes 14 licensed design professionals.
• We annually provide engineering services for approximately 100 projects of all shapes and sizes, in several project types throughout the country.
• KSi now provides structural engineering services for projects with a construction value almost $750M annually.
• KSi is now licensed in 40 states and has completed work throughout the country.
